Nvidia Unveils RTX Spark Superchip to Power a New Wave of AI Windows Laptops

Nvidia’s new RTX Spark superchip turns Windows laptops into AI machines. Premium models from Microsoft, Dell and HP arrive fall 2026 — Intel and AMD stock dips.

Nvidia has made its boldest move yet into the personal computer market, unveiling a new superchip designed to turn Windows laptops into AI-first machines. At GTC Taipei, NVIDIA unveiled NVIDIA RTX Spark, a new superchip that reinvents Windows PCs for the era of personal AI agents — offering a new class of computer that moves from tool to teammate. Nvidia unveiled its new RTX Spark chip during CEO Jensen Huang’s keynote address at the Computex conference in Taipei. The company also introduced the RTX Spark platform, a Windows on Arm solution designed for laptops and powered by the new RTX Spark Superchip.

Huang emphasized the significance of the launch, describing it as a major turning point for personal computing. This reinvention of the computer is as significant as the transformation of the phone into what we now call the smartphone,” he said, emphasizing the expanding role of agentic AI in next-generation PCs.

What’s Inside the RTX Spark?

Also known internally as the N1X, the RTX Spark represents Nvidia’s entry into the PC processor market. The chip combines a Blackwell RTX GPU with a 20-core Grace CPU, linked through Nvidia’s high-speed NVLink chip-to-chip interconnect.

The memory specifications are particularly notable. Nvidia says the RTX Spark can support up to 128GB of memory, an unusually high capacity for a laptop-focused processor and one aimed at demanding AI and computing workloads.

That horsepower is aimed squarely at heavy AI and creative workloads. RTX Spark lets AI-powered creators, workflow builders, and developers render ultra large 90GB+ 3D scenes, generate 4K AI videos, and run 120B-parameter LLMs with up to 1 million tokens of context. The platform draws on decades of the company’s graphics work, bringing together NVIDIA CUDA, NVIDIA RTX, DLSS, FP4, NVIDIA TensorRT, NVIDIA OptiX, Reflex and G-SYNC for AI, creating and gaming. The hardware

Nvidia offered a glimpse of the laptop designs the chip will enable. While Nvidia didn’t provide a full look at any of the laptops built using the chip, it did offer hints at styling and features, noting that the notebooks will be roughly 14 millimeters thick, include HD webcams, and have all-day battery life. The company says the machines will be especially suited to running AI agents — semiautonomous and fully autonomous digital helpers that perform tasks on a user’s behalf. Yahoo Finance

Among the first announced systems is a flagship from Microsoft. Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Ultra, powered by NVIDIA’s RTX Spark, delivers a 1-petaflop AI workstation with 120-billion-parameter local model support in a slim sub-18 mm chassis, co-engineered with NVIDIA. ASUS also stepped forward with creator-focused machines, unveiling the new ProArt P16, P14 laptops and a ProArt Mini PC powered by NVIDIA RTX Spark at Computex 2026, featuring 1 petaflop AI performance, 128GB unified memory, and Lumina Pro OLED displays. Availability and pricing

The first systems are still months away. RTX Spark-powered laptops and compact desktops will launch this fall from major manufacturers including ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft Surface, and MSI, with Acer and GIGABYTE models to follow. On cost, Nvidia is starting at the top. Nvidia hasn’t announced pricing for laptops running its new chip, but it did note that the first systems will target the premium market. However, it will also offer less powerful versions of the RTX Spark with less memory for use in lower-priced notebooks. NVIDIA NewsroomYahoo Finance

A challenge to Intel and AMD

The launch represents a direct threat to the established PC chip order, and markets reacted immediately. Intel and AMD stock fell 6% and 5%, respectively, on the news, while Nvidia rose 4% and Microsoft climbed 3%. The move pushes Nvidia into territory long ruled by Intel, Advanced Micro Devices, Qualcomm and Apple, as the company expands from its dominance in data-center AI chips into mainstream personal computing. For now, the industry is waiting to see whether the hardware lives up to the keynote billing. RTX Spark systems will begin arriving in the fall of 2026, when reviewers will get their first chance to test whether Nvidia’s backing truly transforms the Windows on Arm experience for the agentic AI era.
